Emergency physicians, NPs and PAs

The department

  • 14-bed ER; hospital with 80 inpatient and 4 ICU beds
  • Dedicated career ER nursing staff
  • Lower volumes than typical mainland EDs (about 1–1.5 patients per hour)
  • Inpatient psych ward with rapid admission; most transfers happen as inpatients, so almost no ED boarding
  • X-ray, CT and ultrasound 24/7
  • Consultants: general surgery, pediatrics, OB, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, psychiatry, orthopedics, cardiology, neurosurgery, ENT
  • Interesting pathology (ciguatera poisoning, acute rheumatic fever); occasional trauma, almost all blunt
  • Dragon dictation; Meditech charting rolling out February 2027

Physician

Emergency Physician (MD/DO)

  • BE/BC EM or FM physicians from a U.S.-accredited residency
  • ACLS and PALS required; ATLS preferred (or EM residency training)
  • Double coverage (APCs or other physicians) most of the day; 6 hours of single coverage overnight
  • Full time: three 12-hour shifts per week; time off for travel is prioritized
  • Salary $306,000/year
NP / PA

Emergency NPs & PAs

  • New graduates welcome to apply
  • Most work is in the main ER on Saipan
  • Also cover the Rota and Tinian health centers, typically a week at a time, with considerably lower volumes and paid on-call
  • Supportive physicians: one or two ER doctors on for consults. No co-signing required, and you're welcome to present any patient.
  • ACLS and PALS required
  • Shifts are 9 or 12 hours; time off for travel is prioritized
  • $95,000/year base, up to 25% more (about $118,750) depending on experience
